Proença-a-Velha, 2011
Proenca-a-Velha has a significant heritage of sacred art, we can highlight the three pieces of a valuable ordeal of the XIII century. The images remained missing for many years, hidden inside an altar, probably since the time of the French invasion. They were discovered only in the 60s, and since then, the community of Proenca-a-Velha struggle to maintain, preserve and expose this piece of their history, culture and identity. The Museum of Sacred Art emerges as the materialization of this aspiration.
The museum will be installed in a small existing house which will be restored in order to create two large spaces for the exhibition.
On the house backyard we proposed to build a new volume, as if it were a reliquary. Here, the three images of the ordeal will be finally exposed.
