Leça da Palmeira, 2014
Crossfit is a booming activity.
By the functional reconversion and renovation of an old warehouse, the aim was to design a new space for the practice of Crossfit in Leça da Palmeira, but with a different character of the existing spaces.
The area, with about 800m², should include male and female changing rooms, a toilet, two independent spaces for the practice of other sports, a reception and a lounge for children, a differentiating area that will attract a more diverse audience.
The desired atmosphere started from the union of the industrial appearence of a gas station, austere, with a sporty touch.
The result reflects the strategy of having the stripped atmosphere of the warehouse, very related to the type of hard activity that is Crossfit.
Power cables were removed, the lighting was replaced as its location, some walls were painted, a new floor was placed, a reception was built of tires and an existing interior building was renovated to integrate new changing rooms.
In this volume the strategy was defined by the creation of a more ethereal atmosphere, but also comfortable, with tiles on the walls, self leveling on the floor and treated pine wood in the benches and shelves.
